Getting ready for your next road trip!

Road Trip

There’s nothing better than a great, memorable road trip. There’s equally nothing worse than your perfect road trip getting ruined by being stuck on the side of the interstate with car issues. Let’s look at the best ways to prevent being stranded on the side of the road on your upcoming road trip.

Tires

Make sure your tires have even wear and plenty of tread. You don’t want to have to deal with a dangerous blowout on the interstate. Also make sure than you have equal pressure in the tires. If you’re overdue, now might be a good time to have your tires rotated.

Oil

It’s always best to get a fresh oil change before a long trip. Your car will run smoother, and you decrease the chance of anything happening to your engine during your trip.

Fluid levels

Check your brake and power steering fluids, as well as your coolant. It’s always a good idea to check your windshield wiper fluid as well.

Battery

Ensure that you won’t have any battery trouble during your trip. Simply open the hood, and check for loose connections or acid buildup.

Brakes

One of the most important things you can do is make sure your brakes are good to go. If you have to mash the brake pedal for your brakes to engage, or you feel grinding when pressing the pedal, change your brakes. If you feel any wobble when you are breaking from higher speeds, your rotors may need to be changed as well.

Use a windshield rain guard

Make your trip less stressful, and a bit safer, by using a rain-repellent for your windshield and windows. Rain-X is always a good product, but there are other similar products available.
